After re-reading Southan’s Essay “Is It OK To Make Art”, I picked up on Southan’s negative opinion on the Effective Altruists and their belief system which is strongly against the creation of art and its existence. Specific points that I noticed on the second read through are when Southan stated “in question is clearly frivolous, this seems impossible to justify ethically.” Southan made this statement with the direct purpose of showing the extremity of the Effective Altruist view and its irrationality. After further, closer reading I agree with Southan more on just how extreme the Effective Altruist philosophy is, where I am disagreeing with the EA belief far more. When analyzing Southan’s essay, there were a few words that I did not understand. One of these words is “subversive” and is defined on https://www.dictionary.com/browse/subversive?s=t as  “tending or intending to subvert or overthrow, destroy, or undermine an established or existing system, especially a legally constituted government or a set of beliefs.” and is used to essentially describe the Effective Altruist concept. After decoding this term, I was able to effectively comprehend that Effective Altruists specifically want to create a completely equal society just in a radical way, much too radical and extreme for my agreement.
